What a view! The photo above was taken from the top of Empire House, directly opposite Turnham Green, during the topping out ceremony which I was so chuffed to be invited to. I walked up to the roof - because the builders' lift had broken down. It was so worth the puff.
Chiswick Gunnersbury ward is one of three wards that incorporate Hounslow's Chiswick; the other two Hounslow wards are Chiswick Homefields ward and Chiswick Riverside ward. Part of Chiswick is in Ealing's Southfield ward.
As well as including the beating heart of Chiswick - Chiswick High Road - Chiswick Gunnersbury ward includes the whole of Gunnersbury Park and the Gunnersbury Park Garden Estate, a 1927 mock-Tudor garden suburb.
The western boundary of Chiswick Gunnersbury ward runs from The Pavement Popes Lane down Lionel Road North to the southern boundary of Gunnersbury Park. Its northern boundary runs from The Pavement Popes Lane over Gunnersbury Avenue and along Gunnersbury Lane to Acton Town tube station. Its eastern boundary runs down the western side of the tube line from Acton Town tube station to Turnham Green Terrace; from there, it takes in the shops on the western side of Turnham Green Terrace to Chiswick High Road. It then runs west down the middle of Chiswick High Road to Devonshire Road taking in the shops on its western side, to the Hogarth roundabout. Its southern boundary runs from the north of the Hogarth roundabout to Chiswick roundabout, round the west of the roundabout to Gunnersbury Avenue (the A406 North Circular). It heads west again to take in Gunnersbury Park.
It includes the currently empty, usually covered in fly posting, plot of land next to Chiswick roundabout where Holly House is due to be built and the B&Q site which is also due to be over-developed: The Fourth Mile is now called the London Motorsport Campus. It also includes the Gunnersbury Cemetery which is managed by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
